Question

Consumer Reviews of Dealers and Repair Shops

What are your basic policies for the reviews of Dealers and Repair Shops on your site?

Answer

How to Submit a Review

To submit a review of a dealership or repair shop, first visit Find a Dealer or Find a Repair Shop to locate the business listing on our site. Then click "Write a Sales Review" or "Write a Service Review" to begin the process, as seen in the example below:

Please note that you must be a registered member of the Edmunds Automotive Network to submit a review.

Basic Guidelines

Reviews cannot be written in ALL CAPS, contain profanity or name-calling, solicitations, personal contact information, HTML or links. In addition, reviews must describe your personal experience, should stay on-topic and avoid offensive personal descriptions, and comply with the applicable provisions of our Membership Agreement. We reserve the right not to publish any review that does not satisfy those standards.

When a Review is Published

It usually takes a few business days from the time a review is submitted before it is published. An email confirmation will be sent when this occurs. Be sure to check your email program's spam or junk folder in case this notification has been misfiled.

Adding an Update to a Review

Once your review has been approved and published, you are allowed one update to add more information, or to retract or correct anything you included in your review, or revise the original rating. Go to the page where your review is published and click on "Update Your Review." You must be logged in to add an update.

Comment on a Review

Registered members of the Edmunds Automotive Network can comment on reviews, as seen in the example below:

Comments can be positive or negative, ask questions and/or provide supporting information. Edmunds promotes an environment in which civility prevails and strongly encourages our members to "agree to disagree" when conflicts occur.

If you are associated either personally or professionally with the business being reviewed, please disclose this in your comment. In order to keep the reviews on Edmunds trustworthy, we want to make sure that the readers always know whenever a member's perspective may be influenced by his or her personal connections.

Disagree with a Review

If you disagree with a review, we encourage you to post a comment in response to the review (as described above).

Change or Edit a Review

We're sorry, but once submitted a review cannot be edited. However, you may submit an update to your published review to provide more information and revise the star rating. You are allowed one update per review. After that, you may submit additional thoughts by adding a comment.

Remove a Review

Once published, a review is available indefinitely. We may, however, exercise our right to remove a review at any time -- for example, if we determine that the review violates our submission guidelines or rules, or our Membership Agreement. However, we are not obligated to remove any review, and will do so only at our discretion.

If you believe a review should be considered for removal, please click the "Report It" link on the review in question. Provide a valid email address and the reason(s) why you believe the review should not have been published. We will investigate and an email response will be sent to you.
