Someone claiming to be affiliated with Edmunds offered me a work-at-home position with the company or one of its executives. Is this legitimate or a scam?

We’ve had reports of job seekers being contacted by someone claiming to be affiliated with Edmunds and offering work-at-home positions with either an executive of our company or the company itself, usually as a part-time payroll assistant. Please note that these are NOT legitimate job offers but rather attempts to collect personal information from the recipients (a practice known as phishing).
If you have received such a communication, do not respond. Instead, please report the activity directly to the FBI for investigation through their Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx. This is the best way to ensure that the responsible parties are eventually caught.
Note that you can always check the Careers at Edmunds page at http://www.edmunds.com/about/jobs/ to see all currently available job openings with the company.
If you have any further questions about employment at Edmunds, please do not hesitate to contact us.
